Israel’s New Tourist Draw: Jewish Doctors

Israel hopes to become a world leader in medical tourism – one of the fastest growing areas of the travel and leisure business, as patients from around the world seek top quality medical care at discount prices.

Currently, Israel is a top destination for patients from Russia and Eastern Europe, who come to Israel for a number of heart and onclology procedures, and especially for dental care and major oral surgery and reconstruction. However, both Tourism Minister Yariv Levin (Likud) and Deputy Health Minister Yaakov Litzman (UTJ) believe that Israel has a much greater potential in this area, and on Sunday the two agreed to work together to develop Israel into a medical tourism destination for patients from the U.S. and Europe as well.
